For Players and parents

It’s important to know the terminology associated with the various parts of the field.

This diagram is of 1/2 a Lacrosse field. Look at it and identify the following:

  • Substitution area

  • Wing areas (note that these extend the whole of the field although not marked)

  • Midfield Line

  • Sidelines

  • End Line

  • Restraining Line

  • Goal Line Extended or GLE (note this isn’t an actual line on the field)

  • The Crease

  • The Box

General field information

For Players

It’s really important to get used to the terminology/slang we use to describe various “unofficial” parts of the field

This diagram is of the “unofficial parts”. Look at it and Identify the following:

  • Behind or “X” (X works better because we use behind to describe other things)

  • Up Top

  • The Alleys (these can extend a ways interior of the box as well)

  • GLE

  • The Island(s) (note this area is somewhat nebulous)
