Frequently asked questions

why is usa lacrosse meMbership required?

We are a 100% member of USA lacrosse. This means we require all of our players to maintain current memberships and all of our coaches to undergo and maintain USA lacrosse background checks and coach certification. There are many benefits to being a part of USA lacrosse: USA lacrosse provides a comprehensive insurance program to full members so that your players are well-insured on the field and while traveling for lacrosse. Additionally, USA lacrosse provides access to training and educational resources, sports science and safety research, and equipment and clinic grant opportunities.

How do i find my player’s usa lacrosse membership information

You can visit the “My Account” tab at USA lacrosse to find your membership number. Additionally, your membership number is found above your name on all mailings from USA Lacrosse (including your magazine label). If USA lacrosse has a valid e-mail address, they also sent your number to you when you renewed or joined, so you can check your email for that. We will verify current membership status when you sign up for a team.

Why is club lacrosse so expensive?

For a detailed account of “where” your money is going and the costs associated with our program, please refer to our Transparency page. Additionally, we value our own time, experience, and commitment to your athletes. We strive to provide your player with the best possible club Lacrosse experience. We offer scholarships to players, based on both merit and financial need to help mitigate barriers to playing Lacrosse.

When is club lacrosse?

The “big” club lacrosse season is in early Summer (after school ends and Spring youth rec/high school lacrosse is over). We will also have a robust Fall season (as school gets underway), and will continue clinics and training sessions throughout late fall and winter months (indoors). We won’t practice or session in the Spring during normal Rec/HS play.

Should my player still sign up for rec and high school lacrosse?

Yes, absolutely! We encourage all of our players to continue playing Youth Rec and High School Lacrosse. We view our club program as part of a strong Lacrosse ecosystem that provides your player with the best, most well-rounded experience possible.

Also, when you are coached by different coaches, you become a better player! You’re exposed to different view points and different ways of doing things.

(for parents) I don’t know anything about lacrosse, Can you help?

YES!!! Let’s Go! We love educating parents! There are so many resources out there for you to learn more about the game. Can you find the time is a different question altogether. You can look at our Lax 101 pages for information about the history of lacrosse, and a fairly comprehensive set of information (terminology, etc.) that should make you feel more comfortable. We also will hold parent Q&A sessions periodically, and our players resources page isn’t just for players. Additionally, USA lacrosse has a suite of general information available to help you navigate learning about the best game on earth! As your player moves through our program, you should find yourself becoming a Lax expert!

Can I (or my athlete) play other sports?

Absolutely! We encourage all of our athletes to play other sports, if they can find the time! Early specialization can be a hindrance to athletic development. Luckily, we live in a unique area that encourages multi-sport athletic development. In particular, cycling and snow sports are a major part of where we live. Additionally, because Lacrosse is so much like other sports, we encourage you to try basketball, hockey, soccer, and football. At some point, athletes tend to specialize. We hope that, if you do specialize, Lacrosse becomes your team sport. We will encourage all of our athletes to pursue what they love and excel at all those things!!
